Hi, my name is Aarti

As a lifelong practitioner of yoga, I have a deep love and respect for traditional classical hatha yoga. I have been a teacher for nearly 15 years. These teachings come from the sacred land of my birth, and I believe in preserving and sharing the teachings of yoga as sacred ancestral wisdom traditions.

In addition to the formal classical hatha yoga training in the lineage of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, my first teachers are my parents, grandparents and elders. I continue to learn from them every day.

I believe that yoga is a healing practice; one that can open us into awareness and help us cultivate social consciousness, inner peace, health, wisdom and connection.

Yoga can be made accessible for modern times and should be available to all.

My root guru is Swami Sivananda. I was trained in the lineage of Swami Sivanada. I have received my 200RYT and 500RYT designation (Teacher’s Training and Advanced Teacher’s Training). I am committed to educating folks following the teachings of Swami Sivananda. I’ve also trained under many teachers of various traditions and styles including other styles of yoga as well as Tantra and Ayurveda. My first gurus are my parents and elders. My grandmother taught me the art of bhakti yoga. I was raised in a Vaishnav household by my devotional and dedicated parents who imparted a strong commitment to sadhana (spiritual practice) and spiritual discipline. I am guided by my gurus, teachers, elders and ancestors. I consider myself responsible for continuing the sacred ancestral work of sharing and teaching yoga.
  • What is your response to the allegations towards Swami Vishnudevananda (SVD) and ensuing coverup in the “Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers” organization.
I stand with survivors. I have discontinued my relationship with SVYC. SVD is no longer named in my classes. I continue to support the junior staff and karma yogis there. Many are friends and survivors themselves. <3
